Edible Garden Mentoring Programs

Do you like the idea of growing your own food? Are you keen to get your hands dirty, but not sure how or where to start? Forget about wading through all the waffle on the internet in order to work out which of the conflicting garden related information, is relevant to you. Instead, schedule an onsite gardening session or sessions for support and mentoring.

Think of us like your personal trainer, but with gardening gloves instead of lycra, and shovels instead of kettle bells!

Edible Garden Advice and Mentoring Melbourne

Our Edible Garden Mentoring sessions are fun and informative.

We promise we won’t shout at you and make you “drop and give us 20”. Instead we take a positive and encouraging approach to ensure that your gardening experience is enjoyable and fun!

During the mentoring visits we will explain, demonstrate and share ideas to build on your skills and develop confidence in growing more of your food. Each visit is tailored to support your needs. We aim to build your confidence and skills to a point where you don’t need us anymore… but of course we’ll always be available to offer more hints, tips and advice if and when you need them.

Ongoing mentoring is charged at a set fee per visit (dependent on individual and site specific requirements). This set fee covers the cost of:

  • Mentoring and Advice
  • Seasonal supply of seedlings
  • Seasonal supply of seeds
  • Fruit tree-pruning
  • Fertilizers
  • Equipment
  • Labor
  • Green waste disposal if you do not have a council green waste bin

There is no set time- limit per visit. Each visit takes as long as is needed to complete all the required seasonal and ongoing tasks. In spring and autumn, we’ll be there much longer than in winter. Taking these variations into consideration, it should average out reasonably over the course of the year. The advantage of this system is that it’s easy to budget for (for both of us!), and there’s no surprise costs for the client.

We recommend that we schedule mentoring visits every two or three weeks. Although, for gardeners that are keen to do as much as possible, this could be extended to every four or even six weeks.
